Music composer for "Secret Materials" television series succumbs at 78 years old
Mark Snow, the renowned composer best known for creating the iconic theme music for the hit television series The X-Files, passed away today at his home in Connecticut at the age of 78. The cause of his death has not been disclosed.
Born Martin Fulterman on August 26, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, Snow was educated at the prestigious Juilliard School. He began composing for television in the late 1970s, eventually earning 15 Emmy Award nominations throughout his career.
Snow's most significant achievement came in the 1990s when he composed the hauntingly memorable main theme for The X-Files, which was released as a single in 1996 and enjoyed international chart success.
