Murdered Crime Blogger Identified as Diaba Loira in Rio

In the early hours of Friday, August 15, Eweline Passos Rodrigues, also known as the "Blonde Witch," was killed in a shootout between rival drug factions in the Morro do Fubá, located in the north zone of Rio de Janeiro. The news of her death has sent shockwaves through social media, where she had amassed over 150,000 followers on Instagram and TikTok.

Eweline, a 28-year-old native of Santa Catarina, had a tumultuous life that led her to become a member of the criminal underworld in Rio de Janeiro. In 2022, she suffered a femicide attempt at the hands of an ex-partner, an event that reportedly drove her to turn to crime.

After recovering from her injuries, Eweline moved to Rio de Janeiro and became associated with the Comando Vermelho (Red Command, CV) criminal faction. However, she later switched allegiances to the Terceiro Comando Puro (Third Pure Command, TCP) faction, which she represented publicly on social media. Her notorious persona, combined with her blonde appearance, earned her the nickname "Diaba Loira" (Blonde Witch).

Eweline's association with the major criminal groups in Rio de Janeiro was amplified by social media content that highlighted her roles and identity within these groups. Her posts often referenced the TCP faction, and she even commented on the incident in Gávea Azul, confirming her participation.

In 2023, Eweline was caught trafficking seven kilos of cocaine and exchanged fire with the Military Police during an operation in Gávea Azul. She has been on the run since then, but her reign of crime came to an end on August 15.

Reports suggest that Eweline was found dead in Cascadura, away from the conflict area. Her last post on social media was a reply to CV followers, expressing her belief that their war was lost and inviting them to join her faction.

The traffic chief in the region, Wallace Brito Trindade, known as Lacosta, is on the list of Rio's most dangerous criminals. It remains to be seen how Eweline's death will impact the ongoing conflict between the CV and TCP factions in Rio de Janeiro.
