Murder Suspect Slaughtered in Mangaluru, Bold Allegation Surfaces
Mangaluru Unraveled: The gruesome murder of Suhas Shetty, a controversial figure in Mangaluru, Karnataka, has sent shockwaves through the city.
Known for his links with local right-wing groups, Suhas Shetty, a man with a past rife with police cases, met his end on a bustling Mangaluru street at the hands of contract killers. A chilling incident, caught on CCTV, showed at least five men, armed with machetes and swords, mercilessly attacking him.
Initial investigations have found that two individuals apprehended in connection with the murder claimed they were hired by the family of one of his victims, Mohammed Fazil. Fazil, who was murdered in 2022, was believed to be a retaliatory strike following the assassination of BJP youth worker Praveen Nettaru. Suhas Shetty was the prime accused in Nettaru's murder case.
Interestingly, one of the men claimed to have received Rs 3 lakh, while another said he was paid Rs 2 lakh. The authenticity of these claims is being probed by the police.
The question on everyone's mind is whether the money distributed as compensation to Fazil's family after his murder was misused to perpetuate this heinous crime. After Fazil's tragic demise, the Muslim Central Committee and the newly-elected Congress government provided Rs 30 lakh and Rs 25 lakh respectively as compensation to his family.
Post the murder of Suhas Shetty, the police imposed prohibitory orders banning large gatherings across Mangaluru, signaling the tense atmosphere in the city.
While it's important to note that the payment to Fazil's family was not directly linked to the murder, the larger picture suggests a darker undercurrent of communal hostility and past violent incidents in the region.
