Confessed Axe Killing: 29-Year-Old Bulgarian on Trial in Kassel

Young individual, age 29, admits guilt for axe murder in Kassel - Murder Confession: 29-year-old Individual Admits to Axe Slaying in Kassel

In the trial for an astonishing axe murder in Kassel, the perpetrator has admitted to the barbaric act. On the inaugural day of the trial at the Regional Court of Kassel, he confessed to slaying his former roommate with an axe. Following the violent act, he apparentlty dismembered and hid the remnants of the victim's body.

The prosecution accuses the accused, a 29-year-old Bulgarian, of cold-blooded murder. The authorities assert that he mercilessly struck the homeless 26-year-old in his sleep during June 2024, with the victim residing with the defendant in the shared quarters at the time. The victim's lifeless body was later said to have been dismembered and concealed near the Hercules monument and on the former grounds of the Federal Garden Show (Buga) on the Fulda. The defendant, who had absconded to the Czech Republic prior to the trial, was apprehended in Kassel approximately six weeks post the heinous crime.

The prosecution believes that the supposed perpetrator harbored erroneous suspicions of his partner's infidelity with the victim. The defendant, who had demonstrated signs of extreme jealousy in the past, is said to have held such beliefs.

Defendant: "Under the Influence at the Time of the Crime"

In his own account, the defendant described the series of events differently. He contended that the attack with the axe did not occur on the 7th, but rather in the early hours of the 8th. Instead of the victim being asleep, an argument was said to have transpired before the heinous crime, with a translator interpreting for him. Fearing that his roommate could potentially stab him, the defendant reportedly took the axe and lashed out at the victim's head, striking it twice.

The murder weapon had been stored in the room for some time due to the defendant's fear of coming under investigation. Consequently, upon committing the crime, he opted against summoning emergency services and initially locked the room. Additionally, he confessed to having consumed alcohol and various substances such as cannabis and fentanyl prior to the criminal episode.

Defendant Regrets the Grisly Act

Following the brutal act, he initially resumed his pizza delivery gig. Subsequently, during the night of the 8th to the 9th of June, he moved the victim's remains to the Buga grounds. Wary that the body could be identified, he then dissected the corpse, severing the head and extremities to cache them near the Hercules monument on Essigberg.

In a statement, his legal counsel noted that the defendant deeply regrets the heinous act. Said counsel also expressed that the defendant and the victim had enjoyed a close friendship, having known each other for about two to three years and sharing a living space during the final months of their acquaintance.

Additional Charges

The 29-year-old is also facing additional charges of grievous bodily harm and is suspected of having stabbed another man with a knife before the murder, causing severe injuries. The disputes leading to such violence were believed to have stemmed from the accused's substance abuse issues.
