Municipality's victory in Parco del Meisino court case: Committees and residents' appeals tossed out, decision upholds city's stance
The Tribunal of Turin has given the thumbs up to the Meisino Park project, greenlighting the Municipal plans for a new Environmental Education and Sports Center. The decision comes after the rejection of an appeal by some local citizens and associations, who have opposed the project since the start. According to the judges, the technical, environmental, and faunal checks requested by residents and committees are not admissible before the ordinary tribunal, and the signatories of the appeal are not harmed by the Municipality's actions.
Shifting Gears
The project, financed with over 11 million euros through PNRR funds, has already undergone some modifications. The structures initially intended for Pump Track and Skill Bike Park activities will now be moved to a spot approximately 500 meters from the original site, previously occupied by an old communal football field. The wet area, where a raised platform was to be built for educational purposes, has been removed from the project.
Galloping into the Future
The rest of the project involves building a cyclocross practice track, an area for biathlon and archery, and revamping the former Military Riding Hall. Though unused for some time, this building will now serve as a refreshment area, equipped with warehouses, changing rooms, and classrooms for educational activities and laboratories.
