Municipal election outcomes are officially affirmed; a by-election scheduled for Solingen's mayoral post.

In the recent council and election held in Solingen, Germany, the results have been announced, offering a clear picture of the political landscape in the city.

The mayoral election saw a total of 123,468 citizens eligible to cast their votes. On September 14, 2025, 63,958 citizens exercised their right to vote, with 490 votes being invalid. The CDU candidate, Daniel Flemm, received 20,136 votes (31.7%), qualifying for the runoff election on September 28, 2025. His opponent in the runoff will be Josef Neumann from the SPD, who received 16,516 votes (26.02%).

In the council elections, the CDU emerged as the largest party, securing 26 seats with 29.91% of the votes. The SPD followed closely with 15 seats and 17.73% of the votes. The Greens held onto 10 seats, while SG Zukunft and the AfD each won 8 seats with 14.20% and 15.00% of the votes, respectively.

The council elections also saw representation for various independent candidates and parties in the Immigrant and Integration Council (ZuwI), including The Lista Italiana, The Alternative Citizens' Initiative (ABI), The International List Solingen e.V., The Democratic List, and The Left, who won 4, 4, 1, 1, and 1 seats, respectively.

The district council of Grürath saw the CDU winning 4 seats, SPD winning 2, Greens winning 2, AfD winning 2, Left winning 1, BfS winning 1, and SG Zukunft winning 1. In the district council of Ohligs/Aufderhöhe/Merscheid, the CDU won 5 seats, SPD won 3, Greens won 2, AfD won 2, Left won 1, BfS won 1, and SG Zukunft won 1.

In the district council of Burg/Höhsheid, the CDU won 5 seats, SG Zukunft won 3, SPD won 2, AfD won 2, Greens won 1, and Left won 1. In the district council of Mitte, the CDU won 4 seats, SPD won 3, AfD won 3, SG Zukunft won 2, Greens won 1, and Left won 1. In the district council of Wald, the CDU won 4 seats, SPD won 3, AfD won 2, Greens won 1, Left won 1, and SG Zukunft won 1.

Felicia Rebecca Angelini from The Left received 3,343 votes (5.27%), while Martin Bender from BfS received 4,207 votes (6.63%). Büşranur Çetin from ABI received 1,037 votes (1.63%).

The council elections saw a total of 63,519 valid votes cast. These results reflect the political dynamics of Solingen and set the stage for the upcoming runoff election on September 28, 2025.
