Municipal Election Outcome in Arnsberg - Results of the 2025 Local Vote
In the recent local elections held in Arnsberg, Germany, preliminary results have been announced for both the City Council and the Integration Council.
The City Council of Arnsberg, consisting of 47 seats, saw a total of 14 seats up for election this year. The CDU received the most seats after the last 2025 municipal elections, obtaining 36.64% of the vote, followed closely by the SPD with 34.81%.
The election results for the City Council show that the CDU received 36.64 percent, SPD 34.81 percent, Alliance 90/The Greens 8.20 percent, FDP 2.51 percent, AfD 12.36 percent, The Party 2.22 percent, The Left 1.91 percent, and SBL 1.32 percent of the votes. Independent Candidate Boege secured 57.67% of the votes, securing a seat, while Independent Candidates Shreetah and Diallo received 9.55% and 9.49% respectively.
Hand in Hand, another independent group, received 23.29% of the votes, but did not secure a seat in the City Council.
The election of the Integration Council, which represents citizens who, due to their non-German citizenship, do not have voting rights in their respective municipality, saw a voter turnout of 13.42%. The eligible voters for the Integration Council election were 14,615, and the distribution of seats was as follows: Alliance 90/The Greens with 4 seats, The Left with 1 seat, and SBL with 1 seat.
Ralf Paul Bittner (SPD) was re-elected as Mayor of the City of Arnsberg with an absolute majority of 57.30 percent of the votes. Born in 1966 in Arnsberg, Bittner grew up in Arnsberg-Oeventrop and has seven children. Prior to his political career, Bittner completed an apprenticeship as a dental technician, trained with the police in NRW, and studied at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration.
Voting for both the City Council and the Integration Council took place at 63 polling stations and 23 postal voting stations within the city area, which was divided into a total of 63 electoral districts and 23 electoral wards. Approximately 3,100 first-time voters participated in the election, and 25.84 percent of the votes were cast by post.
The total number of eligible voters in the city of Arnsberg for this year's local election was approximately 59,100. The city council now consists of the CDU with 17 seats, SPD with 16 seats, Alliance 90/The Greens with 4 seats, FDP with 1 seat, AfD with 6 seats, The Party with 1 seat, The Left with 1 seat, SBL with 1 seat, and Independent Candidate Boege with 1 seat.
