Municipal Council Seat Allocation in 2025's Local Elections

In the recent municipal election held on September 14, 2025, Gütersloh witnessed a voter turnout of 47.11%, slightly lower than the 2020 election's 47.9%. The CDU emerged as the strongest faction in the new council, securing 21 seats (32.87% of the vote). The SPD followed closely with 14 seats (22.32% of the vote).

The Alliance 90/The Greens and the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) will be the largest groups in the council, each with 10 and 21 seats respectively. The Social Democratic Party (SPD) will have 14 seats. The AfD entered the council with 9 seats (13.76% of the vote), marking their first presence in the Gütersloh council.

Citizens for Gütersloh (BfGT) and The Left each secured 4 seats (6.99% and 5.83% of the vote, respectively). No mayoral election was held in Gütersloh.

The election of the Integration Council also took place, with the International List prevailing and securing 3 seats. POLONIA GÜTERSLOH and the Aramaic/Assyrian (Syriac Orthodox) communities will each have 2 seats in the Integration Council. The Turkish Association List, Wasilissa, and Pinar Sarilkan as an individual candidate will each have 1 seat in the Integration Council.

A total of 37,201 valid votes were cast in the 2025 election. Voter turnout for the Integration Council election was 13.9%. The newly elected council will consist of 64 members and is set to convene on November 14, where committees will also be appointed.
