Munich Airport's Flight Chaos Continues

The weather woes at Munich Airport haven't let up just yet. On a regular Wednesday, the airport would usually host around 560 scheduled flights. This time, however, over 60 flights had to be increasably canceled, as reported by a spokesperson.

These cancellations were a direct consequence of last weekend's snowfall and the previous day's freezing rain. "We're just trying to clean up and get things back on track," the spokesperson said. Some planes are still in their unexpected resting places.

Thankfully, another full-blown air traffic shutdown isn't on the cards. But it's not off the table that a few flights might not depart on schedule for the next few days. The spokesperson added, "We're keeping our fingers crossed that things will gradually return to normal. We've battled through the worst."

Additional Insights:

The weather conditions at Munich Airport have posed numerous challenges, such as snow, potential airframe icing, low visibility, strong winds, and a cold start with an ice risk. The airport's management team has been actively responding to these challenges through measures like the "Snow Response Foxtrot," aimed at managing snowfall and ensuring safe operations.[1][4]
