Mumbai LitFest Returns With 100 Global Authors and Bold Literary Dialogues

The 16th Mumbai LitFest, a celebration of literature and ideas, is set to take place with a diverse lineup of 100 authors from 15 countries. The festival, co-directed by Quasar Thakore Padamsee since its inception, balances established and emerging writers, offering a platform for all. This year's edition promises to be challenging yet rewarding to organise.

The selection process for authors involves scouring for interesting, recent books and considering the audience's interest. This year, the festival celebrates the 100th anniversary of The Great Gatsby with an audience participative session. Additionally, the Little Festival for children returns, engaging young minds with literary activities.

The LitFest also fosters unique connections with the city's literary communities. Poetry in the Park, a novel concept, brings poetry sessions to public spaces. The festival's programme includes performances, discussions, poetry sessions, and a Great Debate on India and China, reflecting its commitment to global literary dialogue. Beyond Mumbai, the festival highlights how literature thrives in various cities, including Bhilar, a village of books in India.

The 16th Mumbai LitFest, with its international lineup, diverse programming, and community engagement, promises to be a vibrant celebration of literature, ideas, and achievements. Despite the challenges of organising such a large-scale event, the rewards of bringing together global literary voices make it all worthwhile.
