Multitudes of Projects Valued at Approximately $48 billion Set for Inauguration to Celebrate the 80th National Anniversary

Celebrating 80 Years with Major Projects: Vietnam's National Day Anniversary

Vietnam is marking its 80th National Day anniversary with the inauguration and launch of over 250 major projects nationwide, collectively worth approximately 1.28 quadrillion VND (around 48.7 to 51 billion USD). This ambitious development drive was initiated on August 19, 2025.

Among the key projects unveiled are the Vietnam National Exhibition and Convention Center (Vietnam Exposition Center) in Dong Anh, Hanoi, and the Rach Mieu Bridge, both of which are significant in their respective domains.

The Vietnam Exposition Center, completed two years ahead of schedule, boasts an investment of about 7 trillion VND (~275 million USD) and ranks among the world's top 10 largest exhibition centers. It is the largest in Southeast Asia and features the Kim Quy (Golden Turtle) Exhibition Hall, the world's largest circular exhibition structure supported by 24,000 tons of steel.

The Rach Mieu Bridge, another significant transportation infrastructure project, is also part of the lineup.

Other notable projects span various sectors, including transport, civil and urban construction, industry, technical infrastructure, social housing, agriculture and rural development, culture and sports, education, national defense, and health care.

Investment for these projects comes from multiple sources. The State budget contributes 37%, amounting to approximately 478 trillion VND, while 63% is funded by other sources, around 802 trillion VND. Five foreign direct investment (FDI) projects contribute about 54 trillion VND.

These projects are expected to contribute over 18% to Vietnam’s GDP in 2025 and more than 20% in the following years, playing a crucial role in the country’s socio-economic development.

In addition to the infrastructure projects, cultural and artistic programs have been organised to celebrate the occasion. These include the national achievement exhibition and a grand music gala, which have drawn hundreds of thousands of spectators and ignited a wave of patriotic fervor across society.

The Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinch, has given guidance on several key matters, emphasizing the importance of meaningful, efficient, and cost-effective ceremonies. He has also commended the talent, creativity, public service ethos, and patriotism demonstrated by the artists, organizers, and production teams behind the events.

The groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies are scheduled for August 19, with the central event at the National Exhibition and Convention Centre in Dong Anh District, Hanoi. The event will be aired live on Vietnam Television and local radio and television stations.

These projects, led by various entities across 34 provinces and cities, have a total investment of approximately VND1.26 quadrillion (nearly US$48 billion). The Prime Minister has directed relevant agencies to continue reviewing, updating, and selecting outstanding projects, ensuring regulatory standards are met.

The efforts are designed to ensure that the people can enjoy ever greater access to the nation's cultural treasures and the fruits of its development, in line with the directives of Party General Secretary To Laam.

Recent cultural and artistic events held to mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day aim to foster a deeper sense of patriotism. On Sunday, the Prime Minister conducted an unannounced inspection of preparations for the series of major events, including the national achievement exhibition and the grand music gala.

The Prime Minister has praised various entities, including the Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Public Security, Nhan Dan newspaper, Vietnam Television, and others, for their serious implementation of the instructions in organizing cultural and artistic programs for the National Day celebration. He has also called for intensified communication efforts and comprehensive security and safety measures for the event's smooth execution.
