Online Voting Comes to the Republic of Komi for Upcoming Elections

The Republic of Komi is set to offer online voting for the first time in its history, as announced by the Election Commission of the Republic of Komi. Over 23,000 voters have already applied to participate in this groundbreaking electoral process.

The upcoming elections will take place over three days: September 12, 13, and 14, with the single voting day being September 14, 2025. Voters will cast their votes for the candidates running for the position of the head of Komi, regional parliament deputies, and local councils.

Last year, online voting was tested during elections in the Ijema and Knyazhpogost districts, as well as in Uktyl and parts of Uktya. The tests were conducted to ensure the security and efficiency of the online voting system.

Dmitry Mitushov, the chairman of the Election Commission of the Republic of Komi, considers online voting to be the most convenient among remote voting methods. He believes it will simplify the voting process and increase voter turnout.

To participate in online voting for the upcoming elections, voters must submit their applications through the "Gosuslugi" service by September 8. It is important to note that specific deadlines for voter application or registration for online voting in Komi have not been found in the results, and voters are encouraged to consult official election commission announcements for the 2025 elections for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

Online voting allows citizens to exercise their active voting rights for all types of elections, from local to regional levels. The elections in the Republic of Komi will mark a significant step forward in modernising the electoral process and increasing accessibility for voters.

At the regional level, voters will elect the head of Komi and deputies of the State Council of Komi. In most municipalities, deputies of city and district councils will be elected.

The announcement regarding online voting for the upcoming elections was previously reported by Komiinform. If you require precise dates and instructions for this election, we recommend consulting official election commission announcements from the Republic of Komi or Russian electoral authorities for the 2025 elections, as information about deadlines and implementation tends to be published close to the election date and may vary between regions.
