Multitudes of Dancers Animate the Dance Floor at Bremen Dance Sports Festival, Approaching the Thousand Mark
Weekend Dancing Frenzy in Bremen: Grün-Gold Club Hosts Dance Sport Festival
Get ready to shake your groove thing! The Bremen Grün-Gold Club is all set to host one of Germany's biggest dance events from June 4th to June 6th at the Congress Center. This dance fest, known as the Dance Sport Festival (DSF), is a beat-pumping international stage for blessed feet, featuring couples and solo dancers from Germany and 49 other countries.
With over 200 enthusiastic volunteers jumping in to ensure a smooth event, it's guaranteed to be a fantastic dance experience. Gathering over 800 couples and 175 solo dancers, ages ranging from small to senior, this festival is one of six major international dance sport events in Germany. Adding a unique twist, the Grün-Gold Club organizes this grand event single-handedly, making it the only one of its kind. This year, all competitions will be international for the first time.
The worldwide attention gained from this event is immense. We're receiving more and more international eyes, and our local couples have been shining brightly on the global stage for some time now. Therefore, it's almost inevitable that the world is coming to Bremen.
Besides our Germans team, popular countries like Brazil, China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Malta, South Africa, Canada, and the US are also participating. The judging panel will consist of 60 international judges, ready to put their critical dancing eyes to the test. Four world championships will dominate this dance sport weekend: Senior IV Standard, Under 21 Latin, Solo Ladies Latin, and the Youth World Championship of the ten dances.
Bremen's Shining Dancing Stars: Bayraktar/Kuraite
Yigit Bayraktar and Lukrecija Kuraite, the dynamic dance duo from Bremen, will be fighting for the world title in the Ten Dance category this year. Two years ago, these Grün-Gold Club dance warriors became world champions in this discipline in Bremen. However, they have now moved up to the next age category for 16 and 17-year-olds.
In 2024, Bayraktar and Kuraite became "overwhelming" European champions. But competing in the Youth Championship this time around won't be a stroll in the park. They have fierce competitors to face, as many of the 35 other dance couples are older and more experienced. Winning a medal in their first youth year would be a significant achievement, yet it's a tough call as the competition will boil down to the day's form.
Bayraktar and Kuraite have a tough and long competition day ahead of them, ideally with three rounds each in the five standard and five Latin dances, and then two final rounds for the top six dance couples. Their Bremen fans will surely be cheering them on during this passionate dance battle, giving these young athletes an extra boost, and the Grün-Gold Club looks forward to a dance-loving crowd during this Pentecost weekend.
