Multiple women allege Romanian sociologist Marius Pieleanu of sexual misconduct

In a shocking turn of events, Romanian sociologist and political analyst, Professor Marius Pieleanu, has been accused of sexual abuse by several former students and women who entered his office. These allegations have led to formal investigations and responses from the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (SNSPA), where he holds a professor position.

The accusations against Pieleanu have gained significant attention, with multiple complainants and ongoing inquiries. However, the status of these investigations, any official charges, or outcomes have not been fully disclosed as of late July 2025.

One of the key aspects of the case involves the women's accounts of being locked in Pieleanu's office for several hours in the late 1990s and early 2000s, with one being coerced into sexual acts. The investigation also includes inappropriate conversations between Pieleanu and nine women.

Interestingly, Pieleanu's brother-in-law, Florentin Dichiu, who manages the building at SNSPA since 2014 and has access to the video cameras there, is the founder of Avangarde, one of Pieleanu's most well-known and influential companies.

The first testimonies about Marius Pieleanu surfaced during the same time as another investigation, this time concerning SNSPA professor Alfred Bulai, who was detained by prosecutors soon after the investigation.

It's worth noting that three women spoke with Snoop about Marius Pieleanu, accusing him of abuse or inappropriate behavior. When contacted by Snoop, Pieleanu categorically denied the accusations and threatened the publication with a lawsuit.

SNSPA has publicly expressed its commitment to fully cooperate with all state institutions investigating the allegations and to clarify any suspicions related to the case. The university has not specified the website associated with the article.
