Multiple sports teams in Gifhorn aim for an unbeaten season.
Here's to the Unyielding Aspirations in Meinersen and Wittingen
Get ready for a weekend packed with football action in the Gifhorn district! While two decisions will be made on Saturday, four more will be decided on Sunday - two in Meinersen and two in Wittingen.
Senior Cup Showdown
In Wittingen, football heavyweights SV Grün-Weiß Calberlah will go head-to-head with third-placed SV Meinersen-Ahnsen-Paese at 10 am. A perfect 16-0 league season for Calberlah, featuring a host of former Landesliga players, makes them the clear favorites. But Meinersen isn't to be underestimated, having ousted no less than three Kreisligists - including vice-champion SG Leiferde-Hillerse - in previous rounds.
Veterans Cup Battle
In Meinersen, MTV Isenbüttel, the reigning champions of the district, will face SG Hillerse-Leiferde at 10 am. With an impressive 12 consecutive victories and a staggering +46 goal difference, MTV Isenbüttel is the team to beat. But Hillerse-Leiferde, who eliminated their own reserves in the semi-finals, are out to claim the title from the Isenbüttel favorites.
The Clash of Champs: Kreispokal der 3. Kreisklassen
The freshly crowned champions of the 3rd Kreisklasses, SG Barwedel-Bokensdorf II and MTV Gamsen II, face off in Meinersen at 1 pm. With goal differences of 90:25 and 97:23 respectively, both teams have been on fire this season. Strap in for a thrilling encounter!
Underdog Strivings in the Kreispokal der Kreisklassen
In Wittingen, 6th-placed TuS Neudorf-Platendorf will challenge HSV Hankensbüttel II, who play in the 1st Kreisklasse. Despite Hankensbüttel II's status, Neudorf-Platendorf has already knocked out two 1st Kreisklasse teams and the 2nd Kreisklasse 1 champion in earlier rounds. "We've been the underdogs in every cup game so far, but we've shown that we're a force to be reckoned with," says playing coach Mirco Schillberg. The team is determined to make amends for a disappointing league season, as Schillberg admits, "We lacked a prolific striker." With a title on the line, their passion and dedication shine through their high training attendance, with 18 players turning up for the final session, including a penalty shootout practice. The underdogs are working hard to turn the tables!
Prepare for two intensity-filled football matches in Meinersen on Sunday, as MTV Isenbüttel, the reigning champions, battle SG Hillerse-Leiferde in the Veterans Cup Battle, while SG Barwedel-Bokensdorf II and MTV Gamsen II, both champions of the 3rd Kreisklasses, clash in The Clash of Champs. The underdogs, TuS Neudorf-Platendorf, will strive for an upset against HSV Hankensbüttel II in the Kreispokal der Kreisklassen in Wittingen after eliminating several higher-ranked teams in previous rounds. Sports enthusiasts, don't miss this weekend's football action in the Gifhorn district!
