Organ Fever: A mesmerizing dance party in Heiligenstadt
"Pipe-jiving, Tunes for Two - Boogie-woogie, Rock'n'Roll, and More" declares the poster for an enchanting organ concert that promises to tickle your ears and bewitch your soul. Drop by Church of St. Aegidien in Heiligenstadt on Friday, June 20, at 7:30 PM and get ready to be amazed. Four hands and four feet will reanimate this colossal organ with 2,645 pipes as they present an electrifying symphony of waltzes, tangos, polkas, schottisches, swing, blues, cha-cha-cha, boogie, and more, enabling the pipes to dance in perfect harmony.
Such renowned organists as Elias Nikolaus Ammerbach, Giovanni Morandi, Elsbeth Forrer, Thomas P. Westendorf, Julien Bret, Robin Dinda, Carsten Lenz, and others will captivate the audience with their melodious mastery of the keys and foot pedals. To heighten the experience, a large screen within the church will simulcast the organ playback, providing enchanting visuals that complete this enchanting, multi-sensory experience.
The concert will not cost you a penny, but a collection will be held at the exit to show gratitude to the extraordinarily talented artists. After approximately an hour of magic, the organ will fall silent once more, but the sparkling melodies will linger in your heart and soul.
Bonus Background
Organ apologists Irina and Carsten Lenz, who play a significant role in the Saalkirche in Ingelheim am Rhein, would be thrilled to tickle the keys of this organ again. These duo have played numerous concerts not only in Germany but also in various European countries and the USA, while also producing around 30 CD recordings and three video DVDs, and participating in further radio and TV productions.
The musicians also graciously take time to present a short organ demonstration ten minutes before the concert, providing a fascinating glimpse into the breathtaking capabilities of the instrument.
