Going Against the Grain: Alle Farben's Journey Unveiled

  • *

For over a decade, DJ Alle Farben, aka Frans Zimmer (39), has made waves in the music industry with his unconventional beats and electrifying performances. But this resilient artist didn't allow a serious accident earlier this year to derail his career. In an exclusive interview with spot on news, Alle Farben discusses his plans after the tough time, his dreams for the future – both personally and professionally, and his never-faltering spirit.

Living the Dream: The Highs and Lows of Success

Alle Farben: Let me tell you, it feels damn good! (laughs) I've been creating music for 21 years, and 11 of those years have been incredibly successful. Every year, I'm inundated with booking requests, playing massive festivals, collaborating with big-name artists – and it's all been at such a high level. I'm grateful for it, but you don't get it easy peasy. It takes hard work to stay on top. My job takes me to places I wouldn't necessarily plan to visit. It's kinda cool, you know?

Keeping It Real: Maintaining Authenticity Amid Stardom

Alle Farben: I've got a great group of friends and a kick-ass team who keep me grounded. They knock me off my high horse when I start feeling a little too full of myself – but it rarely happens. I've known these guys forever, and I'm grateful for that. At the end of the day, I'm just a human Being. Remember that you're not superior to anyone else just because you're successful. Everyone has their struggles, their problems. My job ain't any different from that of my best friend who's a kindergarten teacher. Sometimes we talk about his little students, sometimes we talk about going backstage with Kygo.

Revisiting Roots: Embracing Change and Evolution

Alle Farben: I'm experiencing a revival of sorts with my latest single "Flowers." I'm returning to my roots – not just musically, but also with the artist I worked with 11 years ago, Graham Candy. That's really closing a circle for me. Nine years ago, I started touring with my trumpeter, Lahos, and now Graham Candy has become part of the family. That's beautiful, man.

Growing Personally: Navigating Trials and Triumphs

Alle Farben: It's been a rollercoaster ride. At the beginning of my career, I was overwhelmed. My whole world changed so fast – no one tells you what it's like to be on big stages, to be recognized on the street. That was difficult for me at first. Now, I'm living my dream. I use my career to do what I want. I had to learn that over the years, though.

Conquering Fear: Performing with Passion and Emotion

Alle Farben: The excitement never fades – and I've never found a great way to deal with it. I know now that I get jitters before the shows, and I've learned to cope with it. I just have to eat something a few hours before I can't eat anything. It's okay to be nervous. I think it's nice that I still get excited before the shows – because it's still touching me.

Mishaps and Mishaps: Four-wheelin' through Live Performances

Alle Farben: I'm a perfectionist, so things don't always go perfectly on stage. But I've learned that I can't control everything. In those moments, you're a professional – plain and simple. I've had a thousand mishaps on stage, and I just smile and keep going. I'm lucky to have a team that works tirelessly in the background. Alle Farben ain't a solo act; it's teamwork. Without my team, I couldn't shine like this. I do my part, and they do theirs, and magic happens.

Welcoming Criticism: Standing Strong in the Face of Negativity

Alle Farben: Criticism doesn't really affect me, but there was a time when I stopped reading the news. That really got to me – social media showed the worst side of people. I gradually got back to reading comments, responding to some, but not all. I don't want to give trolls a platform. But even today, some news still gets under my skin.

Sharing the Spotlight: Collaborating with Artists and Empowering Performances

Alle Farben: No, I don't feel like I'm taking a backseat when a singer or singer is on stage with me. Everyone has their moment to shine on stage – that's what makes my show beautiful. I don't just have a DJ setlist, I create an experience. When Graham Candy runs onto the stage, and the crowd goes wild – it makes my show even more beautiful and makes me happy.

Picking Favorites: Treasured Moments and Meaningful Collaborations

Alle Farben: Graham Candy, no doubt about it. (laughs) But I've had so many fantastic collaborations. I'd love to collaborate with Pharrell Williams one day. The most personal song is "Please Tell Rosie" because it described my life and daily routine at the time. But the one I can still listen to today is "Bad Ideas." If it comes on anywhere, I crank it up.

Frans Farben's Other Passions: Cooking, Sports, and Life's Simple Pleasures

Besides music, I've found two other passions: cooking and sports. From a hobby, cooking has become more – during the pandemic, I learned to cook well. Now, I've got a cooking channel that's doing quite well.

If it weren't for music, I'd be a chef, possibly. Or maybe a kindergarten teacher, a physiotherapist – I think I could have been happy in other areas too.

Recovering from the Accident: A Rough Patch on the Road

Alle Farben: Friends, family, and my team have been a massive help. I realized that people support me a lot – in my closest circle and far beyond. That really helped me feel better.

Looking Forward: Embracing the Festival Season with Anticipation

Alle Farben: I've never been as excited for a festival season as I am now. This summer, I'm going to be back on stage – after the accident and the uncertainty of whether I'd ever perform again. Now, everything looks good again, and I'll be able to perform normally again.

Preparing for the Big Night: Routines, Rituals, and the Art of Self-Care

I've got a great support system. My tour manager always reminds me to drink water, for example. I focus on three things before a performance: getting rest, eating right, and taking care of my physical needs. That's how I do my best.

The Power of the Unknown: Embracing Excitement and Embracing the Unexpected

Alle Farben: I'm not calm before a performance. Maybe I'm quieter, but I'm not calm. There's something brewing inside me – adrenaline kicks in. It's a moment that ignites me.

Dreaming of the Future: Personal and Professional Goals

Alle Farben: I'd love to perform more in Asia again. I want to be musically active there as well. I'm a big fan of Asia – of the many countries, the many cultures there. Privately, not much has changed: I just want to live a good life, and I'm confident that's possible if I keep on doing what I'm doing.
