Multiple criminal incidents involving knockout blows place Leipzig at the forefront - Multiple illegal acts perpetrated via knockout drugs; Leipzig city tops the list.

Last year, a startling 99 individuals across Saxony fell prey to heinous crimes involving K.-o.-Tropfen. A majority of these victims were women (74) as confirmed by the State Criminal Police Office (LKA) upon request.

Malicious culprits tip these substances covertly into drinks at social gatherings, parties, festivals, or concerts to render victims non-resistant, submissive, or even unconscious often to rob them or assault them.

Authorities believe the true number is significantly higher

A total of 88 crimes were recorded, some involving multiple victims. "It's safe to assume a high number of unreported cases because many victims are too ashamed to file a report," the LKA stated.

Comparing districts and independent cities, the most instances were reported in Leipzig (28) and Dresden (19). The substances were administered primarily at outdoor events, nightclubs, bars, or private homes.

As per the LKA, administering K.-o.-Tropfen is not considered a standalone criminal offense. The numbers are derived from a separate evaluation, and the figures have been adjusted, making them incongruent with previous years. Previously, the count ranged between 31 (2016) and 63 (2019) instances per year.

How to stay safe?

The police advise against leaving drinks unattended at events, festivals, and parties. Only accept drinks that are still sealed and never drink a glass in one gulp. Also, be aware of changes in taste and smell. If you suspect K.-o.-Tropfen, call the police and emergency services immediately.
