Israel, a Middle Eastern country with Jerusalem as its capital, is currently embroiled in a conflict with Hezbollah, an Islamist organisation based in Lebanon. The country's Minister of Defense, Joav Galant, has stated that Israel is in a new phase of the war against Hezbollah.

The United Nations, an international organisation consisting of 193 countries worldwide, with the goal of maintaining world peace, protecting human rights, and promoting global cooperation, is deeply concerned about the conflict. The UN is urging for the conflict to stop, to prevent a large-scale war.

The explosions occurred almost simultaneously in various locations in Lebanon, affecting both streets and shops. The victims included many Hezbollah fighters who carry pagers, often in their pockets. These small devices used to receive messages have been experiencing explosions.

Hezbollah has claimed that Israel is responsible for the explosions, a charge that Israel has not officially confirmed or denied. However, many experts believe that Israel's intelligence service planted explosives in the pager supply chains and detonated them on September 17 and 18, 2024.

Hezbollah receives significant funding from Iran, and the organisation has threatened revenge against Israel. The USA and Israel consider Hezbollah a terrorist organisation.

Israel and its neighbouring countries have long-standing disputes, known as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, over who rightfully owns the land. This conflict adds fuel to the fire, making the situation in the region volatile and unpredictable.

Lebanon, a small country on the Mediterranean Sea with Arabic and French speaking inhabitants, and the capital Beirut, is also home to a significant number of Muslims, Christians, and Jews. The state religion of Israel is Judaism, but Muslims and Christians also live there.

The United Nations can help in conflicts by mediating and achieving a ceasefire, or by sending peacekeeping troops to monitor the ceasefire. The organisation is working tirelessly to find a peaceful solution to the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.
