The FedEx Cup Playoffs, one of the most lucrative stretches of golf on the planet, concluded recently with the Wyndham Championship marking the end of the regular season. The top 10 PGA Tour pros received bonus money from two separate pools: the FedEx Cup regular season bonus pool and the Comcast Business Tour Top 10 prize pool.

In the FedEx Cup Regular Season Bonus Pool, which totalled $20 million, the winner Scottie Scheffler received an impressive $10 million. The other top 10 received decreasing amounts, with 10th place earning $500,000. Here's a breakdown of the FedEx Cup Regular Season Bonus:

  1. Scottie Scheffler - $10,000,000
  2. Rory McIlroy - $4,000,000
  3. Sepp Straka - $1,200,000
  4. Russell Henley - $1,000,000
  5. Justin Thomas - $800,000
  6. Ben Griffin - $700,000
  7. Harris English - $650,000
  8. JJ Spaun - $600,000
  9. Tommy Fleetwood - $550,000
  10. Keegan Bradley - $500,000

The Comcast Business Tour Top 10 Bonus Pool, separate from the FedEx Cup bonuses, also rewarded the top 10 players in the FedEx Cup regular-season standings. The winner, Scottie Scheffler, took home $8 million from this pool. The totals for other players decreased, for example:

  1. Rory McIlroy - $6,000,000
  2. [Other notable top 10 placements within the $40 million pool]

With these two pools combined, Scottie Scheffler earned the most bonus money, winning $10 million from the FedEx Cup regular season bonus and $8 million from the Comcast Business Tour Top 10, totaling approximately $18 million in bonuses. These payouts, independent of the Tour Championship purse and the FedEx Cup Playoffs, totalled $60 million across the top 10 players in total bonus money after the regular season.

Notable mentions include Rory McIlroy, who received a total of $10 million ($4m from the FedEx Cup and $6m from the Comcast Business Tour Top 10), and Harris English, who received $3.45 million in total ($650,000 from the FedEx Cup and $2.8 million from the Comcast Business Tour Top 10).

These changes in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, which now include the Tour Championship as a separate event with its own $40 million purse, and the FedEx Cup total bonus pool of $100 million, with $43 million allocated before the playoffs begin, have certainly made the competition more exciting and rewarding for the top golfers.

  1. In the FedEx Cup Playoffs, golfers competed not only for the prestigious Tour Championship win but also for lucrative bonus money, with Scottie Scheffler earning a significant portion of it by excelling in both the regular season and the Comcast Business Tour Top 10.
  2. The top spot in both the FedEx Cup Regular Season Bonus Pool and the Comcast Business Tour Top 10 Bonus Pool was secured by Scottie Scheffler, demonstrating his dominance in sports, particularly in golf.
