Get ready for some pedal-pumping action as the International mountain biking "Stone Belt" Championships and All-Russian Cycling Championships rev up in Sverdlovsk Oblast! Over 300 top cyclists from across Russia and Belarus are racing to conquer the tracks of the "Lower Isetsky" sports complex.

Sverdlovsk Oblast has had a rich history in nurturing cycling talent. With 19 sports departments spread across 12 cities, the region has birthed world, European, Russian, and even Soviet champions. Leonid Rapoport, Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of Sverdlovsk Oblast, expressed his excitement, saying, "I hope all participants will appreciate our track, and I wish everyone good luck."

Competitors from Belarus, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Murmansk, Samara, and many other regions are gearing up to compete for medals in mountain bike cross-country and short track events. The contestants are as young as 13 years old, and they'll face a challenge with the technically demanding tracks complete with climbs, descents, and artificial obstacles.

Cycling has seen rapid growth in recent years, with over 6,600 people in the region currently involved in the sport. Last year alone, Sverdlovsk athletes brought home over 180 medals of various levels in international and national competitions.

Hosting international and national biking events in Sverdlovsk Oblast is part of the "Sport of Russia" program, designed to create accessible, modern sports infrastructure and foster both mass and youth sports. Through this initiative, the region is witnessing the opening of new tracks, improvements in material and technical facilities, and expanding opportunities for training athletes.
