Müller subtly hints at potential plans for his upcoming career
Around the corner for Thomas Müller is his final lap with Fußball-Club Bayern München. Will he hang up his boots or head for foreign shores? The legendary Bayern icon gives a cryptic hint about his future plans.
Munich - After wrapping up the Bundesliga season, Thomas Müller has savored a well-deserved break - perhaps pondering his post-FC Bayern life? "We've been given a few days off by FC Bayern to catch our breath, and I've truly enjoyed this time," the 35-year-old reveals in his personal newsletter. "The last few weeks surrounding the championship and my departure have been incredibly intense."
But idle days are not in Müller's playbook. Instead, he's honed his golf swings, reconnected with friends, and indulged in his equestrian passion. Music, too, has been a constant companion. "Schafkopf on top, what more could you want," Müller adds. The Club World Cup commences on June 15th against Auckland City in the USA, and Müller is prepared: "Basic endurance, interval runs, strength training - the whole program."
Looking forward to the Club World Cup - and beyond?
Müller brims with excitement as he eyes the Club World Cup, a swansong tournament with the German giants. "I can't wait for the matchup against Boca Juniors in Miami," he says, adding, "Traditional clubs like that don't come around very often for a European footballer. That gets the football pulse racing." The knockout stage holds additional allure for Müller.
His sojourn in America has him intrigued. "The venue in America is particularly interesting," Müller remarks. Moving forward, could the USA be on his radar? Recent rumors link Müller with a move stateside, with Bayern's partner club Los Angeles FC eager to secure his services[1].
Embracing a global adventure
In the past, whispers of a potential post-Club World Cup sojourn in America had circulated. For now, Müller is fully focused on the upcoming tournament.
"What I find truly fascinating about tournaments like the World Cup, European Championship, or even the Club World Cup: You go into this kind of 'conclave' as a team, with four to six weeks of intense collaboration," Müller explains. "You spend a lot of time together, you can achieve a lot as a team, there are also challenging moments, but it's always a real blast." After this intensive phase, Müller is likely to weigh his options: retirement or a new adventure abroad? The trend points towards the USA.
