Muller May Shift Career to Violin Playing
After two and a half decades with FC Bayern Munich, Thomas Müller's tenure at the record-breaking side will draw to a close this coming summer. The club has opted not to renew his contract. The 34-year-old prodigy has been an embodiment of the "Mia san mia" ethos of the club.
Certainly, his career won't be winding down. Come June, he'll still be seen gracing the Bayern uniform at the Club World Cup. Following that, he may well suit up for a new outfit.
There's plenty of buzz about the Bayern legend. Besides Los Angeles FC, the Munich partner club, there's chatter from the Premier League, Turkey, and Italy. The chatter from AC Florence appears particularly pronounced.
According to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio in a conversation with Wettfreunde.net, Florence has reached out to Müller's agent, discussing a potential move. However, no deal has been struck yet, and the Italians can't match his current Bayern salary.
A Hint of History
A move to Florence could mirror history: Franck Ribéry, too, went there after calling it a day at Bayern in 2019. In Florence, he showcased his skills once more – and Müller could do the same.
Di Marzio views Florence as a fitting destination: "The city would embrace him. He could play freely there, with minimal pressure - just like Ribéry or Mario Gomez did before."
(For additional perspectives, it's worth noting that while Robin Gosens has suggested that Müller might find appeal in Italy due to the enthusiastic fans and lifestyle, Müller himself has allegedly ruled out moves within the Bundesliga or Europe.)
In light of the news about Thomas Müller's departure from FC Bayern Munich, there's speculation that he could join European leagues, following the footsteps of players like Franck Ribéry who moved to Florence after leaving Bayern. AC Florence is reportedly showing interest in Müller, with Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio suggesting that the city would provide a liberating environment for the Bayern legend.
