Mujinga Kambundji embraces motherhood but still chases Olympic glory

Swiss sprinter Mujinga Kambundji has welcomed her first child, a baby boy named Léon. The 32-year-old athlete, known for her speed on the track, is now embracing a new role as a mother. Despite her success, an Olympic medal remains the one major prize still missing from her career.

Kambundji cut her 2024 season short in May after learning she was pregnant. Yet she continued training throughout, determined to stay in shape. Her sixth-place finishes in the 100 metres at both the Tokyo 2021 and Paris 2024 Olympics still left her hungry for more.

Kambundji’s break from competition will stretch into 2026 as she focuses on motherhood. Her long-term goal remains clear: to finally secure an Olympic medal. With her experience and determination, the road to Los Angeles is already in view.
