Muff Potter's Thorsten Nagelschmidt Presents New Novel 'Only for Members' in Dresden
Thorsten Nagelschmidt, the frontman of punk/alternative rock band Muff Potter, has ventured into literature with his latest novel 'Only for Members'. Published by März-Verlag in September 2025, the book is an autobiographical exploration of depression, family traditions, and escape. Nagelschmidt, also a graphic designer, will be presenting his work at a reading event in Dresden this Saturday.
The event, hosted by Neustadt-Geflüster, is offering free tickets to attendees. Nagelschmidt's inspiration for the novel stems from his personal struggles with depression during the pre-Christmas season, a topic he delves into with raw honesty. In search of respite, he spent 86 hours watching 'The Sopranos' on Gran Canaria during his holidays, a radical retreat that sparked his creative process.
The reading will take place at the Alten Wettbüro on Antonstraße 8, starting at 7:30 PM. The 236-page hardcover book, featuring a dust jacket, is Nagelschmidt's fourth novel. His previous works include 'Where the Wild Madens Grave' (2007), 'What Does the World Cost' (2010), and 'Work' (2020). Inspired by David Foster Wallace's 'Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close', Nagelschmidt places himself in extreme situations for self-reflection and cultural observation.
Join Thorsten Nagelschmidt this Saturday for an intimate look into his literary journey. 'Only for Members' promises a candid exploration of mental health, family dynamics, and the human spirit's resilience. The event is a unique opportunity to engage with an artist known for his raw and honest storytelling.
