Mudtown's Launch Date, Actors, Storyline, Preview, Interviews, and Everything Revealed So Far

Mudtown, a gripping six-part Welsh crime drama, is set to air on U&Alibi, a UKTV channel, starting Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 9 PM BST. The series, which focuses on the goings-on at Newport's Magistrates Court, was originally launched as a box set on BBC iPlayer in Welsh, titled Ar y Ffin, and began weekly broadcasts on S4C from December 29, 2024.

The English-language version of Mudtown premiered about eight months later on U&Alibi, covering the same intriguing narrative filmed back-to-back in both languages. The thrilling series was commissioned by Helen Perry for UKTV and ordered for U&Alibi by Emma Ayech and Hilary Rosen.

At the heart of Mudtown are the lead characters: Erin Richards as Claire Lewis Jones, a Magistrate who faces personal turmoil while presiding over cases; Tom Cullen as Saint Pete, a criminal kingpin who arrives on the scene, complicating matters for Claire; Lauren Morais as Beca Lewis Jones, Claire's daughter who finds herself in a complex relationship with local bad boy Sonny Higgins, played by Lloyd Meredith; and Lloyd Meredith's character, Sonny Higgins, a troubled yet sympathetic figure with a complex past.

Gareth John Bale portrays Glyn Humphries, while Kimberley Nixon plays Sara Humphries in the series. Matthew Gravelle plays Alun Lewis Jones. Tom Cullen describes his character, Saint Pete, as "Newport's Tony Soprano" and an intelligent, complex character.

Mudtown was executive produced by Ed Talfan and produced by Hannah Thomas. The series was directed by Rhys Carter and Chris Forster. The thrilling drama will be available on multiple platforms, including Sky (channels 109/826), Virgin Media (126/200), BT (312/382), and TalkTalk (312), with episodes available on demand on Sky, NOW, and Virgin Media.
