MTV Video Music Awards 2025: A Star-Studded Night
The MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) are set to return on September 7, 2025, airing live across all time zones at 8 p.m. ET/5 PT. This year's event, hosted at New York's UBS Arena for the second year in a row, promises to be an exciting spectacle, with a diverse range of nominees and categories.
Wendy Plaut and Lisa Lauricella, executives in charge of celebrity and music talent respectively, have curated a stellar lineup of stars for the event. Among the nominees are some of the biggest names in music, including Post Malone and Blake Shelton, who are up for Best Collaboration with "Pour Me a Drink."
Several artists are nominated for multiple categories. Sabrina Carpenter and Rose, for instance, have each received 8 nominations, while Ariana Grande and The Weeknd have 7 each. Billie Eilish and Bruno Mars have 6 nominations each, and Lady Gaga leads the pack with 12.
New categories this year include Best Country and Best Pop Artist. In the latter category, Ariana Grande, Charli XCX, Justin Bieber, Lorde, and MGK are nominated. The Best Country category sees Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen, and Kacey Musgraves vying for the prize.
Fan voting is open for 19 gender-neutral categories, with the voting window closing on Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. ET. The best new artist category will remain active into the show itself.
The VMAs will be simulcast live on MTV and can be streamed by Paramount+ subscribers in the U.S. The event will also air live on CBS.
Gunpowder & Sky CEO Van Toffler is producing the VMAs, with Bruce Gillmer, Barb Bialkowski, and Den of Thieves cofounder Jesse Ignjatovic serving as executive producers. Alicia Portugal is the co-executive producer.
Notable nominees in other categories include Bad Bunny (Best Album, Best Latin), Kendrick Lamar (Best Album, Best Choreography, Best Collaboration), Taylor Swift and Beyoncé (Artist of the Year), and Miley Cyrus (Best Art Direction).
The VMAs are shaping up to be an unmissable event, celebrating the best in music and visual creativity. Don't forget to cast your vote!
