MTV Video Music Awards 2025 Nominations Announced: Lady Gaga Tops the Chart with 12 Nominations, View complete list within
The nominations for the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) have been revealed, with a diverse lineup of artists vying for recognition across various categories. This year, two new categories - Best Country and Best Pop Artist - have been added to the mix.
Leading the Pack
In a close race, Lady Gaga leads the nominations with 12, followed by Bruno Mars with 11, Kendrick Lamar with 10, ROSE and Sabrina Carpenter with 8 each, Ariana Grande and The Weeknd with 7 each.
Competition in the Main Categories
In the highly-anticipated Video of the Year category, The Weeknd's "Hurry Up Tomorrow," Lady Gaga's "Abracadabra," and Bad Bunny's [DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS (Short Film)] are among the nominees. For Artist of the Year, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift are nominated. If either wins, they will break the record for the most-awarded musician in VMA history, currently held jointly by Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, each with 30 career total VMA wins.
Recognition for K-pop
The Best K-pop category sees nominations for Stray Kids (Chk Chk Boom), JENNIE (like JENNIE), Jimin (Who), ROSÉ (toxic till the end), and LISA ft. Doja Cat and RAYE (Born Again).
Best Country and Best Pop Artist
New this year, the Best Country category features nominations for Morgan Wallen (Smile), Jelly Roll (Liar), Cody Johnson with Carrie Underwood (I'm Gonna Love You), Lainey Wilson (4x4xU), and Megan Moroney (Am I Okay?). In the Best Pop Artist category, Ed Sheeran (Sapphire), Ariana Grande (brighter days ahead), and Sabrina Carpenter (Manchild) are among the nominees.
Other Notable Categories
In the Best Album category, The Weeknd (Hurry Up Tomorrow), Lady Gaga (Abracadabra), Bad Bunny (DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS), Sabrina Carpenter (Manchild), and Kendrick Lamar (GNX) are nominated. The Best Latin category includes Rauw Alejandro and Romeo Santos (Khé?), J Balvin (Rio), Burna Boy ft. Travis Scott (TaTaTa), KAROL G (Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido), and Bad Bunny (BAILE INoLVIDABLE).
The Best Hip-Hop, Best R&B, Best Alternative, and Best Rock categories also feature several notable nominations. In the Best Editing category, Lady Gaga (Abracadabra), Tate McRae (Just Keep Watching), ROSÉ and Bruno Mars (APT), Kendrick Lamar (Not Like Us), and Sabrina Carpenter (Manchild) are nominated. Special Recognition
This year, Mac Miller has become the first artist to receive a posthumous VMA nomination for Best Long Form Video for "Balloonerism."
Voting and Award Show Details
Fan voting for the awards started on Tuesday and will continue till September 5. The award show will be aired live from the UBS Arena on CBS at 8 PM ET on Sunday, September 7.
