In a bold move, Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo has publicly accused President William Ruto of prioritizing the launch of new government projects while neglecting unfinished developments from the previous administration.

Ngogoyo, a political ally of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, contends that the President is focusing more on political maneuvering and rhetoric rather than addressing the hardships faced by ordinary citizens. He argues that this approach makes the current administration ineffective and disconnected from pressing public issues.

The MP's criticisms come at a time when President Ruto has been portraying himself as more capable than his predecessors. However, Ngogoyo asserts that if Ruto was aware of ongoing projects during his tenure as deputy president, he should have carried them forward instead of initiating new ones.

Ngogoyo's accusations extend beyond the scope of project prioritization. He has linked broader governance concerns such as extrajudicial killings, university funding, and the issue of semi-autonomous county governments (SHA) to the need for President Ruto's departure, suggesting that these problems remain unresolved under his leadership.

Moreover, Ngogoyo criticized the government for securitizing the fuel levy to access money upfront without clearing pending bills owed to contractors. He emphasized that government spending is not a personal favor to citizens but a duty to ensure the smooth operation of ongoing projects.

The MP's statements come amidst intensifying criticism from Gachagua's camp, which has alleged corruption and human rights violations within the Ruto administration. Despite these criticisms, President Ruto has claimed to have combined the courage of Jomo, the understanding of Moi, the education of Kibaki, and the plan he shared with Uhuru Kenyatta.

It is important to note that the statement does not mention any specific projects left incomplete by President Ruto or any Party standards that he has failed to meet. The amount budgeted annually for maintenance of all trunk roads in the country is Sh600 million, according to the Roads Act.

As the political landscape in Kenya continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how President Ruto will respond to these criticisms and whether he will address the concerns raised by MP Onesmus Ngogoyo and his allies.

  1. Onesmus Ngogoyo, the Kajiado North MP, has criticized President William Ruto, suggesting that his focus on new projects and political maneuvering has made the current administration less effective in addressing pressing public issues, such as policy-and-legislation related to general-news subjects like university funding and semi-autonomous county governments.
  2. In addition to his concerns about project prioritization, Ngogoyo has criticized the Ruto administration's approach to governance, linking issues like extrajudicial killings and the securitization of fuel levies to his call for the President's departure, emphasizing that business decisions, like government spending, should serve the needs of citizens rather than just individual favorites.
