Mozambique’s Bold Fight to End Violence Against Women with Disabilities
The programme focuses on education and behaviour change. Boys and men, including 18-year-old Pedro, attend workshops to unlearn toxic stereotypes and confront fears tied to gender roles. Pedro now actively speaks out against violence and promotes equality in his community. Meanwhile, girls receive training in setting boundaries, self-defence, and strategies to escape assault.
The initiative marks a concrete step toward addressing systemic inequality. Through community workshops and advocacy, it targets the root causes of violence while equipping vulnerable groups with tools for protection. The long-term goal is to reduce abuse rates and improve access to justice, employment, and education for all women—especially those with disabilities.
