Giebichenstein Summer Film Nights 2025: A Cinema Under the Stars Experience
The Giebichenstein Summer Film Nights 2025 are set to captivate audiences with a series of unique film screenings, running from July 30 to August 16. Each evening promises a special theme and a chance to enjoy "Cinema under the Stars" at the City Museum's Oberburg Giebichenstein, Seebener Straße 1.
The events kick off on Thursday, August 7, with a focus on Sports and Politics. The Israeli, German, and French film "PlayOff" (2011) will be screened, and no online vote will take place.
On Friday, August 8, the theme shifts to Dark Humour. Audience members can vote online for their preferred film from two options: "Adieu cherie - Breaking Up French Style" (France 2024) and "The Perfect Boss" (Spain 2021). Admission to the Oberburg opens at 8 pm, with the selected film beginning at 9:30 pm. The combined admission for the Oberburg, the ruins, and the summer film costs 8.50 euros.
Cocktails, cold drinks, and snacks will be available throughout the evening. Results of the online voting are announced each day by 12 pm.
The festivities continue on Saturday, August 9, with the theme Home in the Heart, Borders in the Mind. Two films will be available for selection: "Das ist unser Land" (Belgium/France 2017) and "Beyond the Blue Border" (Germany 2024). A brief tour of the Saaleburg's history is given at 8:30 pm.
