In the heart of Pforzheim, Germany, lies a unique cultural gem - the Tunnel Cinema, a part of the Communal Cinema Pforzheim. Nestled within the Arlinger Tunnel, this pedestrian tunnel offers a distinctive underground venue for film screenings, promoting culture and community engagement at the local level.

This weekend, the Tunnel Cinema continues its journey with two films - "The Little Mole" at 4 pm and "Safety Last! Just the Skyscraper" with Harold Lloyd at 7 pm. The live-scoring for these films will be provided by the talented duo Eberhard Budziat, Werner Küspert, and Dietmar Fuhr.

The Communal Cinema's mission is to make the world of cinema accessible to everyone, and it does so by hosting a varied program that includes independent films, documentaries, and cultural events. While specific program details and schedules are usually announced through local cultural websites or municipal event listings, the cinema remains an active cultural spot supported by local community organisations.

Visitors to the Tunnel Cinema must walk 400 meters downhill in the freshly asphalted tunnel to reach their seats. The acoustics in the Tunnel Cinema have a reverberation of 20 seconds, which affects sound reproduction, adding a unique twist to the cinematic experience.

The Tunnel Cinema has a rich history, having been located at various places before, including the Golden Anchor and the Cinema cinema in the Jaeger passage. It celebrated its 20th anniversary at its current location in 2023, and continues to thrive, with the support of city officials such as Mayor Sibylle Schuessler, who is a member of the support association of the Communal Cinema.

For those interested in learning more about the history of the Tunnel Cinema, Gerhard Baral, a cultural creator and member of the support association, gave a 20-minute speech about the cinema's journey. The government president, Sylvia M. Felder, also congratulated those responsible for the Communal Cinema.

The Arlinger Tunnel's north portal was built in 2023, and the Tunnel Cinema is located in the next emergency bay of the Arlinger Tunnel. Access to the Tunnel Cinema is possible via Dietlinger Street at the entrance to the West Tangent in the direction of Wilferdinger Height.

For a truly unique cinematic experience, make sure to visit the Tunnel Cinema this weekend and immerse yourself in the world of film in an unforgettable setting.
