Movie Car Museum Auction Kicks Off in Colorado

This week, a unique auction is taking place at 401 Englewood Parkway in Englewood, Colorado. The event, organized by Zack Loffert, who also runs a movie-prop rental business, is offering a diverse collection of movie cars, trucks, signs, gas pumps, pedal cars, and screen-used memorabilia.

The auction, consisting of 463 items, includes some iconic vehicles from popular films. For instance, the 1974 Ford Gran Torino listed in the auction was used in the 2004 Starsky & Hutch remake. Another standout is a recreation of the Dumb & Dumber Mutt Cutts van.

The auction will be primarily online, with some in-person bidding options available. Day 1 listings, which mainly consist of large signs and memorabilia, can be found here. Day 2 listings, featuring many cars, can be found here.

The auction will span two days, with the first day starting on August 22 at 7 p.m. local time. On the second day, more than 60 movie and collector cars, plus gas pumps and vintage signs, will be auctioned off. Some of the notable cars include the Rubble Racer from the '94 Flintstones movie and a police Chevy Blazer from Stranger Things.

Interestingly, this auction is part of a trend this month, as other major car museums are liquidating their collections. For example, the Klairmont Kollections Automotive Museum in Chicago is closing and auctioning off its entire collection of about 300 cars in late September. The Rodz and Bodz Museum in Colorado, which specializes in movie cars, held an auction earlier this month to help fund a move to a new permanent location.

After the auction, Loffert plans to find a new location and start a slightly different version of a movie car museum. The current museum was previously occupying a building owned by Kimco Development, which is being redeveloped for a hotel and apartments.

This auction presents a fantastic opportunity for movie car enthusiasts to own a piece of cinematic history. Whether you're a fan of classic cars or iconic films, there's something for everyone at this unique event.
