Movie Night this Saturday - 12th April 2014
Howard Goodall is set to delve into a series of enduring director-composer collaborations tonight, as part of a popular demand. The four collaborations that he will be exploring remain unnamed, but they promise to showcase some of the most iconic partnerships in the film industry.
Among the composers featured in these collaborations are Michael Giacchino, Hans Zimmer, Alan Silvestri, and Carter Burwell. Giacchino's work with director J.J. Abrams is particularly noteworthy, having contributed to Abrams' projects in recent years. However, for many of Abrams' main films, Giacchino has remained the predominant composer.
Another notable partnership is the collaboration between directors Christopher Nolan and Hans Zimmer. Their work together has produced some of the most memorable scores in contemporary cinema, including the music for Nolan's acclaimed film, "Inception."
The Coen Brothers and Carter Burwell also form part of the collaborations that Goodall will be exploring. Burwell's long-standing partnership with the Coen Brothers has resulted in some of the most distinctive and memorable scores in modern cinema, such as the music for "Fargo" and "No Country for Old Men."
Rounding out the collaborations is the partnership between directors Robert Zemeckis and Alan Silvestri. Their long-standing collaboration has produced some of the most iconic film scores of the last few decades, including the music for the "Back to the Future" trilogy and "Forrest Gump."
Goodall celebrated strong working relationships between composers and directors earlier this year, and his return to this subject is highly anticipated. The collaborations that he will be exploring tonight are expected to offer a unique insight into the creative process behind some of the most iconic films of our time.
