Movie Festival 2025 at Cineteca Nacional Chapultepec: Gratis Screenings Not to Be Missed
The National Film Library Chapultepec in Mexico City is celebrating Mexican cinema during the vacation season with a week-long event called Mexican Cinema Week. Scheduled from August 16 to 21, 2025, this exciting event will feature free screenings of various Mexican films at the Cineteca de Chapultepec.
During this week, moviegoers can enjoy a diverse lineup of films, including animated productions, documentaries, short films, and modern masterpieces of Mexican cinema. Some of the titles included in the lineup are "Dos tipos de cuidado," "Río Escondido," "Canoa," "El rey del barrio," "Huesera," "Cronos," and "The Legend of the Mummies of Guanajuato," which is noted as suitable for children.
Screenings will take place both inside the theatre and at the Open Air Forum, with different showtimes each day. Tickets are not available online but will be distributed free at the box office starting 30 minutes before each screening. It is recommended to arrive early to secure entry.
The venue is located at 1345 Vasco de Quiroga Avenue, fourth section of Chapultepec Forest, and can be accessed via Cablebus Line 3 from Los Pinos to Vasco de Quiroga. The National Film Library's renovated facilities will be open for public viewing during Mexican Cinema Week.
Highlights of the week include the screening of "Tempestad" by Tatiana Huezo on Tuesday, August 19, at 1:15 PM in Hall 4. On Monday, August 18, the films "Río escondido" by Emilio Fernández and the documentary "¿Qué les pasó a las abejas?" by Adriana Otero and Robin will be shown in Hall 2. On Wednesday, August 20, the animated film "La leyenda de las momias de Guanajuato" by Alberto Rodríguez will be screened at 1:30 PM, and the film "Mamá" by Xun Sero will be screened at 4:30 PM in Hall 5. For Thursday, August 21, the film "Nómadas" by Emiliano Ruprah will be screened at 1:15 PM, and the documentary "Resurrección" by Eugenio Polgovsky will be screened at 4:15 PM in Hall 3.
