Movie Events Unveil: Detective Thriller Premiere along with Creative Accolades

The Summer Reading Club 2025 in Ibbenbüren concluded last Saturday in the Kulturhaus hall, marking the end of an unforgettable summer of reading. The event was filled with excitement and creativity, as children, teenagers, friends, family, and parents gathered to celebrate the culmination of the summer's activities.

The library team had organised various activities throughout the summer, including visits by author Lisa Freude and storyteller Johanna Wollin, gaming afternoons, and a screenplay and film workshop with Klaus Uhlenbrook in cooperation with Schreibland NRW. The film workshop was funded by the Stadt Ibbenbüren, the Ministry of Culture and Science of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, and SchreibLand NRW, an initiative of the Literature Office NRW, supported by the Association of Libraries NRW.

Mayor Dr. Marc Schrameyer was also present and emphasised the importance of promoting reading. He praised the Summer Reading Club for its focus on creativity, teamwork, and communication, which aim to promote reading as an extracurricular activity.

During the award ceremony, creative ideas in various categories were honoured. Winner of the best storytelling was Hennes Zahn, whose story featured the mayor and a theft in the town hall. The film created in the workshop, titled "The Book of 1000 Secrets", was also presented at the event. It can be watched online at this link.

In addition, the winners of the most original team name were handverLESEN (Keke, Bente, Lukas, and Petra Schulenkorf), the most creative own contribution went to Noah and Jakob Wielage, the most beautiful cover design was awarded to Die Bücherfresser (Emily and Milan Baals), and the best animated film was won by Die Bücherwürmchen (Lou and Smilla Hoppe). Jule Albers received the award for the most creative logbook design.

The event also included a tombola, where winners included Sorina Al Diebo, Smilla Hoppe, Federica Quiroga, Nora Raabe, Jorin Rieger, Leenke Rieger, Anouk Schulte-Varendorff, Polina Sharkova, Clint and Emily Uhlmann, and Hennes Zahn.

Library director Dagmar Schnittker welcomed the guests at the opening, thanking all participants, sponsors, and supporters for an unforgettable summer of reading 2025. The city library team expressed their gratitude for the support and participation, looking forward to next year's Summer Reading Club.
