Movie delves into Putin's 25-year reign as president in Russia
A yarn's spun about a docuseries on Putin, our big, bad boss of Russia - expect to see it flickerin' on state telly soon. Dmitry Peskov, Putin's spin doctor, spilled the beans about the film, which covers the last 25 years of Putin's reign.
According to Peskov, the flick's all about how Putin's kept Russia afloat for a quarter-century. He remarks, "This film? Real talent's behind it." However, Peskov left us hangin' for specifics like release date and runtime.
Russia's state propaganda outlet TASS later reported that the docuseries, "Russia. Kremlin. Putin. 25 Years," would air on May 4, in the evening. Be warned, the series starts from Putin's rise to power in 2000 and ends in 2025, chronicles all his economic victories, political wrangles, and foreign entanglements.
Throughout Putin's rule, he's stirred up strife across Dagestan, Chechnya, Georgia, Syria, and Ukraine. It's no secret that his rule's been ladened with fraud, suppression of dissent, and a good dose of bloodshed.
From 2000 to 2008, Putin had Medvedev as his puppet president, but the elections were a sham. Back in '08, Putin dashed into Georgia under the pretext of protectin' his buddies in North Ossetia and Abkhazia. In '14, he stoled Crimea from Ukraine and backed insurgents in the eastern regions. As of now, the invasion of Ukraine's still in full swing, with no end in sight.
European countries have largely shunned Russia's elections, smackin' it with sanctions for its belligerence towards Ukraine. The International Criminal Court flung out a warrant for Putin's arrest in '23, accusin' him of child kidnappin' from occupied Ukrainian territories.
Side note: Ukrainian forces have put a whopping 950k of Putin's soldiers six feet under since the invasion. That ain't all - Putin's daily casualty count hovers around a thousand kills or wounds.
A Polish biographical film dubbed "Death of Putin" hit Ukraine's screens in '23. Directed by Patrick Vega, it charts the life of Putin from his teenage years, up until his 2022 invasion of Ukraine, and shows the Russian leader meetin' his maker in '26.
So, grab some popcorn and get ready to witness Putin's epic saga unfold, if I were you. Hang tight for more official details, though - we're fresher than Putin's draft script for this docuseries.
The four-part docuseries on Putin, titled "Russia. Kremlin. Putin. 25 Years," set to air on May 4, will open with subtitles to cater to a general audience. The series is expected to provide a deep dive into Putin's 25-year reign, delving into topics like culture, politics, and Russia's foreign relations up until 2025. Given Putin's controversial political stance and past actions, there is a wide expectation for the documentary to shed light on his rule, characterizing it with elements like strife, fraud, suppression, and bloodshed. The documentary, if positioned within the broader context of Putin's ruling period, may serve as an important piece in the discourse of modern Russian politics and international relations.
