Movie adaptation of 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' musical performance set to premiere in cinemas
In an exciting turn of events, the song "Golden" from the animated musical urban fantasy film K-Pop Demon Hunters has made history by reaching the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 on Aug. 11.
The film, which is currently streaming on Netflix, has been a sensation since its release on June 20, 2025. It follows a K-pop girl group who double as demon hunters, combining vibrant music and visual style inspired by K-pop culture, mythology, and urban fantasy.
Fans of the film will have the opportunity to engage interactively with the music-heavy film in a theatrical setting, as sing-along screenings are scheduled to take place in select movie theaters in the U.S. and Canada on Aug. 23 and 24, 2025. These events, hosted by Harkins Theatres, will allow fans to perform songs like "Golden," "Soda Pop," and more.
Tickets for these highly anticipated screenings go on sale on Aug. 13 at 9 a.m. ET. The film's characters are voiced by a talented cast. Rumi, one of the members of the K-pop group HUNTR/X, is voiced by Arden Cho. Mira is voiced by May Hong, and Zoey is voiced by Ji-Young Yoo. The singing voices for these characters are provided by Audrey Nuna, Rei Ami, Arden Cho, and Ji-Young Yoo, respectively.
"Golden," one of the film's most popular songs, is performed by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami. EJAE wrote "Golden" with Mark Sonnenblick.
As of now, K-Pop Demon Hunters is fourth on Netflix's list of most popular English language movies. With its success on the Billboard Hot 100 and the upcoming sing-along screenings, it's clear that this film is here to stay.
