The harsh winter weather left a sour taste at the Inselpark game against the Titans, who had temporarily relocated to Riga, Latvia due to conflict. Only 1222 spectators braved the cold, and regrettably, even the drummers from the fan club couldn't make it. Their head drummer, Harald Dreyer (70), slipped on the icy pavement in the morning, injuring his thumb.
In Barloschky's words: "We send our condolences. He would've added some extra energy today."
The game started off slow for the Towers, with Prometey taking a significant lead. Though the Hamburg squad never surrendered, they failed to close the gap. However, thanks to an impressive 11-point run in the final quarter, they managed to heat up the remaining fans.
Lukas Meisner (28) was one of the few players who showed vision despite the team's struggles. Six weeks post-nose injury, he played mask-free for the first time and became the top scorer along with Will Christmas (26) with 16 points each.
Nevertheless, the two-and-a-half day break following the cup-less weekend allowed the team to rejuvenate, though the exhaustion from 22 competitive matches was evident.
As they continue their EuroCup journey, Hamburg Towers look to build on their Bundesliga success and learn from their experiences.
