In a significant development for U.S. homeowners considering solar power, the federal residential solar tax credit (Investment Tax Credit, ITC) offering a 30% reduction on eligible system costs will be available only until December 31, 2025. This legislative change, signed into law by President Trump on July 4, 2025, shortens the previously expected timeline and eliminates the credit for new residential solar installations after this year.

Homeowners who install a solar PV system or home battery storage by the end of 2025 can claim the 30% tax credit, potentially saving thousands of dollars on installation costs. The tax credit applies only if the solar system is installed and operational by December 31, 2025, and covers equipment and installation costs, including battery storage when paired with solar.

After 2025, the residential ITC will no longer be available, although past guidance expected a phase-out extending to 2032; this has now been accelerated and ended after 2025. There is no indication of replacement federal incentives past 2025, making this a critical deadline for eligible solar cost reductions at the federal level.

Elsewhere, a helicopter from the Bundeswehr has crashed into the Mulde river in Saxony, eastern Germany. The crash site was discovered by kayakers, but the exact cause of the crash is currently unknown. The incident occurred on the Mulde river, and the crash has not been confirmed to have caused any casualties. The incident is currently under investigation.

In other news, the historic eye clinic in Duisburg-Fahrn is closing its doors, potentially leaving thousands without care. Laura Dahlmeier, a biathlon Olympic champion, is still being searched after a severe mountain accident in Pakistan.

In health-related news, those suffering from diarrhea should focus on fluid and mineral intake. The public prosecutor's office in Duisburg has filed charges against the suspended fire chief, Oliver Tittmann.

Lastly, the State has decided on a solar shock, beneficial for homeowners without solar power. More than half of statutory health insurance patients are refusing certain dental work. As always, stay tuned for more updates.
