Motorway crash involving a motorcyclist: Vehicle engulfed in flames, rescue helicopter deployed in Lintorf area
On Monday, May 20, 2024, at 5:30 PM, a serious incident occurred on the A524 at Lintorf. A motorcyclist from Duisburg, aged 20, collided with a VW driven by a 51-year-old man from the same city.
The motorcyclist was riding a Yamaha when the unfortunate event took place on the on-ramp to the A524 at Lintorf. The collision caused the motorcyclist to fall off his motorcycle, which subsequently continued to slide along the road and caught fire.
Due to the damage caused by the burned-out motorcycle, one lane remains closed. The police completely closed the highway in the direction of Krefeld, and the highway remains closed in its entirety in this direction.
The 20-year-old motorcyclist was severely injured in the incident and was transported by a rescue helicopter to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, the 51-year-old driver of the VW was uninjured.
Repairs to the road surface are ongoing and are necessary to reopen the closed lane. The repairs are expected to take some time, and the lane is expected to remain closed until the repairs are completed.
The incident on Pentecost Monday has resulted in the closure of a lane on the A524 at Lintorf. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes if possible.
