Motorcyclist speeds through town at nearly 120 km/h - Motorcyclist faces €1,500 fine after 118 km/h speeding in 50 km/h zone
A 21-year-old motorcyclist was stopped by police in Hanau late on Wednesday evening after speeding at nearly 120 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. Officers also noted the bike had no exhaust silencer and an expired roadworthiness inspection—issues that first drew their attention to the rider.
The incident began when police spotted the motorcycle due to its loud noise. The rider had removed the exhaust silencer, making the bike easily noticeable. As officers activated their blue lights and signalled for the motorcyclist to stop, they recorded him revving the engine aggressively at a traffic light.
Upon checking the bike's details, authorities discovered its mandatory roadworthiness inspection had lapsed six months earlier. The rider later explained he was trying to 'break in the engine' after the winter break. However, speed measurements confirmed he had reached 118 km/h in a restricted area. Police impounded the motorcycle immediately. The rider now faces a €1,500 fine, two penalty points on his driving record in Flensburg, and a three-month ban from driving. No other similar incidents of dangerous motorcycle riding with speeding violations have been reported in Hanau or the surrounding region over the past year.
The motorcyclist's actions led to severe penalties, including a hefty fine and a temporary loss of driving privileges. Authorities have emphasised the importance of vehicle compliance and speed limits, particularly in residential zones. The case serves as a reminder of the legal consequences for ignoring road safety regulations.
