Motorcyclist and cyclist critically injured in Federal Highway 3 collision
A serious traffic accident occurred on Federal Highway 3 near Ovelgönne on Saturday morning. A motorcyclist and a road cyclist collided, leaving both with severe injuries. Emergency services rushed to the scene to assist the victims and secure the area. The crash took place when the 70-year-old road cyclist from Neu Wulmstorf suddenly veered onto the road without checking for traffic. This led to a direct collision with a 58-year-old motorcyclist from Langlingen, who was riding a Honda CRF1100. The impact caused both riders to fall onto the roadway.
Both vehicles sustained damage in the crash. Fire crews from Immenbeck and Ovelgönne-Ketzendorf quickly arrived to secure the accident site. The motorcyclist was taken to Elbeklinikum for treatment of his injuries.
The road cyclist suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Hamburg for urgent medical care. The incident left two people seriously hurt and required immediate medical attention. Authorities are likely to review the circumstances surrounding the collision. The road remained closed temporarily as emergency teams worked at the scene.
