Introducing the Triumph Thruxton 400: A Blend of Contemporary Engineering and Classic Romance

The British motorcycle manufacturer, Triumph, is set to release a new addition to its 400cc lineup - the Thruxton 400. This motorcycle, with its sporty clip-on handlebars and sleek rear seat cowl, promises to appeal to a niche customer base seeking a unique combination of contemporary engineering and classic romance.

The Thruxton 400 follows a typical cafe racer design language, reminiscent of the discontinued Speed Triple 1200 RR. It features a front fairing with a raked windscreen, a sculpted fuel tank, and a round headlamp design with a cross pattern. The motorcycle also boasts a compact rear tail-light with a removable rear cowl, accommodating a pillion seat and grab rails.

Under the hood, the Thruxton 400 shares the same 398 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine as the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. This engine produces 39.5 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm torque at 6,500 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

Hardware-wise, while the underlying chassis and components like suspension and brakes appear similar or identical, the Thruxton 400's cafe racer form factor alters ergonomics and aesthetics rather than core mechanicals. The motorcycle is expected to have upside-down front forks, a mono-shock at the back, and disc brakes both front and rear with dual-channel ABS.

Performance-wise, the Thruxton 400 is essentially the same as its counterparts due to the shared engine and hardware. However, it may have slightly adjusted gearing or engine calibration to suit its sportier personality.

In terms of pricing, the Thruxton 400 is expected to be priced marginally higher than the Speed 400, which is priced at ₹2.46 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Thruxton 400 offers a more aggressive riding posture than the Speed 400, making it an exciting choice for those seeking a blend of classic style and modern performance. With its unique design and sporty features, the Thruxton 400 is set to carve out a niche for itself within Triumph’s 400cc lineup.

The Thruxton 400, with its sleek design and sporty elements, clearly caters to enthusiasts who appreciate sports motorcycling. The motorcycle's aggressive riding posture and performance-focused components, such as its disc brakes and adjustable gearing, make it an attractive choice for avid sports motorcyclists.
