Motorcycle manufacturer BSA unveils the Scrambler 650 model in the UK market. Possibility of its arrival in India remains uncertain.

The BSA Scrambler 650, an upcoming bike in the market, promises to offer a unique blend of style, performance, and ruggedness. This new motorcycle is equipped with features that make it stand out from its contemporaries, particularly the BSA Gold Star 650.

Design

The Scrambler 650 features a scrambler-style design, with a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, single-piece seat, raised front fender, circular LED headlamp, and off-road-oriented Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR dual-sport tires on a larger 19-inch front wire-spoke wheel. Its instrument cluster is a modern, offset, fully digital LCD unit. The exhaust is a new, upswept, single pipe designed for a scrambler vibe.

In contrast, the Gold Star 650 boasts a classic retro styling with a lower-mounted front fender, traditional halogen headlamp, twin-pod analog-digital instrument cluster, conventional handlebars, and an 18-inch front wheel with Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp road-biased tires. It carries a wide, touring-focused seat and a chrome-finished exhaust with a classic look.

Dimensions

The Scrambler 650 is heavier, taller, and has a longer wheelbase compared to the Gold Star 650. Here's a comparison of their key dimensions:

| Feature | BSA Scrambler 650 | BSA Gold Star 650 | |-------------------|----------------------|-----------------------| | Wet/Kerb Weight | 218 kg | 201 kg | | Wheelbase | 1,463 mm (+38 mm) | 1,425 mm | | Seat height | 820 mm (+40 mm) | 780 mm | | Front Wheel Size | 19-inch | 18-inch |

Performance

Both bikes use the same 652cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing around 45 bhp at 6,000-6,500 rpm and 55 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. The Scrambler may have slight drivetrain tuning variations to suit its scrambler style, but power output remains largely the same.

The Scrambler uses dual-channel ABS and has off-road-oriented suspension and tires, whereas the Gold Star focuses more on road touring comfort.

Availability and Pricing

The BSA Scrambler 650 is not confirmed for the Indian market yet. The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, another bike in the same segment, is priced at ₹ 3.59 Lakhs. The BSA Scrambler 650 weighs 218 kg and has a seat height of 820 mm. It is available in three color options: Thunder Grey, Raven Black, and Victor Yellow.

No timeline for the India launch of the BSA Scrambler 650 has been revealed, and the official communication about the India launch is yet to be made.
