Italian Princess Maria Carolina von Bourbon-Zwei-Sizilien, the 21-year-old daughter of Prince Carlo, Duke of Castro, has survived a severe motorcycle accident. The princess shared photos from the hospital on her Instagram account, sharing her harrowing experience.

In the posts, Maria Carolina recounts a head-on collision with a wall while riding a motorcycle, resulting in a hospitalization in the intensive care unit. "I have incredible luck to be alive," she wrote, attributing her survival to her helmet, which she urges others to wear.

The photos show Maria Carolina wearing a motorcycle helmet in one image and lying in a hospital bed in the intensive care unit, with a neck brace and various tubes, in subsequent photos. Maria Carolina is currently receiving medical care at the Princess Grace Hospital in Monaco.

Just a few days prior, she shared snapshots of her visit to the Formula 1 race in Monaco, including a group photo with racing driver Lando Norris, on her Instagram account.

Princess Maria Carolina is the heir apparent of the Italian cadet branch of the Spanish Bourbons and holds the titles Duchess of Calabria and Duchess of Palermo. After studying at the International University of Monaco, Harvard University, and the Istituto Marangoni, she works as a model and influencer. The House of Bourbon-Zwei-Sizilien ruled the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies until 1861 and lost its political power with the Italian unification and abolition of the monarchy in 1946. Today, the former ruling house plays a mainly symbolic role in Italy.
