The motorcyclist was identified as Teixeira, who was traveling north on Puhala Street when the accident occurred. According to the police, Teixeira lost control and veered off the roadway, striking a tree.

The helmets should be Department of Transportation (DOT) approved, and they should have eye protection unless the motorcycle is equipped with a windscreen.
The accident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to these laws, especially for young riders. Failure to comply with these laws may have legal consequences during traffic stops or after accidents.
For adults, helmet usage is not mandatory by law, but it is strongly encouraged given safety considerations and standards such as DOT approval. The motorcycle involved in the accident was a 2007 Suzuki Boulevard.
The investigation has been classified as a coroner's inquest, and an autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of Teixeira's death. Potential witnesses are asked to contact Officer Jerome Duarte at (808) 961-2339 or [email protected]. Those who prefer anonymity may call Crime Stoppers at (808) 961-8300.
As of the writing of this article, Teixeira's death marks the 15th traffic fatality of 2025. Comparatively, there were 21 official traffic fatalities this same time last year.
The tragic incident serves as a call to action for all road users to prioritise safety and adhere to traffic laws to prevent similar accidents from happening in the future.
