Mother's Insurance Claim for Son's Roller Coaster Accident Falls Short by $800,000

In December 2024, a 15-year-old from Omsk suffered a fractured shoulder bone after falling on the ice rink of the Fetisov Sports Palace. The exact name of the teenager remains undisclosed.

The incident occurred on the open-air rink of the sports palace. Following the accident, the teenager required surgery and was hospitalized for over two weeks.

The first instance court in Omsk awarded 105,000 rubles in compensation for the injury. However, the teenager's mother was dissatisfied with the amount, considering it insufficient. As a result, she filed a lawsuit seeking 800,000 rubles in compensation for moral damages.

The prosecutor, on the other hand, argued that the compensation amount corresponds to the severity of the teenager's injuries. The prosecutor's arguments were supported by the judicial panel, and the Omsk Regional Court did not increase the compensation amount as requested by the teenager's mother.

The press service of the prosecutor's office reported the court's decision, confirming that the compensation amount awarded to the teenager's mother remains at 105,000 rubles. The court order is for a sports school in Omsk to pay the compensation.

The teenager's mother's appeal for a higher compensation amount was also denied by the Omsk Regional Court. The decision of the Omsk Regional Court regarding the compensation amount remains unchanged.
