Saturday Night Live's latest episode offered a mix of emotions, starting with a heartwarming Mother's Day tribute and taking a comedic twist.
Cast members Kenan Thompson, Marcello Hernandez, and Bowen Yang honored their mothers during the opening segment. But their sweet sentiment took a detour with James Austin Johnson's lively portrayal of Donald Trump.
Trump busted onto the scene with a witty quip about Chicago, the supposed birthplace of the newly elected Pope Leo XIV, who he jokingly referred to as "Chicago-style." Expecting a sincere Mother's Day moment, viewers were in for a surprise.
Johnson weaved in references to the vice president, hinting at a potential "intervention" if the pope didn't comply with Trump's wishes. He also praised the Catholic Church during his impromptu speech, likening it to the Salvation Army and Chick-fil-A.
Enter former cast member Cecily Strong, reprising her role as Jeanine Pirro, who was recently named the interim US Attorney for Washington, D.C. Strong, carrying a bottle of red wine, delighted audiences with Pirro's signature wit and sass.
Trump expressed admiration for Pirro, praising her legal acumen and on-screen presence. The comedic duo bantered playfully, with Strong revealing her habitual salad returns and Trump confessing he's never tasted one.
In the concluding scene, Colin Jost made a cameo as Pete Hegseth, capping off a rambunctious skit that left viewers in stitches.
