Mosque Murder Perpetrator Captured Attack Footage on Mobile Phone at Grand-Combe Mosque
Let's Discuss a Unsettling Incident
Last Friday, a horrific event unfolded in the tranquil town of La Grand-Combe, as a bloodthirsty assailant brutally murdered a young man, named Aboubakar, during prayers at the local mosque. As of now, the perpetrator remains on the loose, eluding the persistent grasp of authorities.
The grisly attack was partially recorded by the killer himself on his mobile phone, according to revelations from the prosecutor's office on Saturday, April 26th. In the chilling footage, the assailant can be heard hurling derogatory slurs at Allah, the one God, before admitting to being recorded by the mosque's surveillance cameras.
The crime occurred around 8:30 am on Friday, in the mosque of this small community of around 5,000 residents north of Alès. The suspect, still at large, is being hunted by the gendarmerie group of the Gard, the research section of Nîmes, and the judicial police under the watchful eye of the prosecutor's office of Alès.
A Desperate Hunt for a Dangerous Fugitive
Given the suspect's potentially lethal and unpredictable nature, it is crucial to apprehend him as soon as possible. As per the prosecutor's reports, the man appears to have expressed his desire to commit similar acts in his erratic and ominous statements made during the incident.
Investigators have identified the suspect as a French national in his twenties, of Bosnian origin, and not a Muslim. Despite their best efforts, they are yet to locate his residence, but they know that he frequently visits the area, as part of his family resides in the Gard.
The suspect's younger brother, a minor, was arrested on Saturday in the Gard but was later released without charge in the evening. The ensuing investigation is being closely supervised by the prosecutor's office of Alès.
A Grievous Attack with Fatal Consequences
The victim was a regular at the mosque, coming every week to clean the mosque before Friday prayers. To the horror of the investigators, it seems that the attacker had no prior connection to the mosque or its congregation.
Initial estimates suggest that Aboubakar received between 40 and 50 knife wounds. His lifeless body was discovered around 11:00 am or 11:30 am on Friday, when other worshipers arrived for the Friday prayer at the mosque.
Government officials, including Gerald Darmanin, the Minister of Justice, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leader of La France Insoumise, and François Bayrou, the Prime Minister, have publicly denounced the act, showing their sympathy for the Muslim community suffering from this heinous violence.
The authorities and law enforcement agencies are sparing no effort to nab the culprit and ensure he faces justice for his heinous act. Stay tuned for more updates as the investigation continues.
